On the morning of Friday September 2nd, 2016 and during Tropical Storm Hermine, ISPD Officers detected the smell of smoke coming from a residential building, at about 6:30 am. The Officers began searching for the source, and discovered flames at a wooden condominium building. They sprang into action, diligently going door to door, in an effort to wake up and evacuate the residents. One of the Officers suffered smoke inhalation, and had to be treated at a hospital, but thankfully, no lives were lost. Over 70 Firefighters from various agencies subsequently responded, and took control of the structure fire. Great job to all emergency responders.
