GULF BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS  - Posted 9 November 2007 PBS&J Constructors, Inc. is under contract with Pinellas County for the Gulf Boulevard Utilities and Roadway Improvements project.  The purpose of the project is to install a 16-inch Reclaimed Waterline, add a potable waterline, sanitary sewer work, reinforce the seawall at the Narrows and mill and resurface the roadway.  The work will take place in the right-of-way Gulf Boulevard from Park Boulevard to Walsingham Road.  Construction of the work is expected to be completed late August 2009. The work is scheduled to take place during the day time hours, but under some circumstances they may have to work at night.  Every effort will be made to minimize the impact of the project on you and your neighbors.  You will notice large machinery and pipe on the job site.  You will also see RE Purcell and American Bridge trucks and equipment aroung the neighborhoos. Due to the areas under construction, there will be road closures and detours in place on Gulf Boulevard throughout construction.  Temporary land closures with flagmen for one-way traffic will be used.  Access to your homes and businessess will be maintained. Minor service interruptions to your potable water can be expected, however, affected residents will be notified prior to scheduled service interruptions.  We will make every effort to restore service as quickly as possible in the event of water service interruption. For additional information, please go to www.pinellascounty.org/gulfblvd Thank you for you understanding and cooperation.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Gulf Boulevard Construction Update Project Continues to Progress on Schedule Pinellas County, Fla— The Gulf Boulevard Construction Project continues to progress on schedule. The seawall section, one of the major components of the project was recently completed, with more than 46 feet of new seawall and 794 feet of replacement seawall cap finished on time. Roadwork continues to be the most visible aspect of the project and so far, more than 3,000 feet of roadway have been milled to create an even and level foundation for a smooth driving surface. An additional 1,400 feet of the northbound lane from 193rd Street have been restored after installation work was finished in the pipe trench. The road shoulder work, including the bike paths and sidewalks, has begun to take shape with 2,500 feet completed on the west side of Gulf Boulevard, beginning at 192nd Street. In Indian Shores, 5,543 feet of 16-inch reclaimed water lines have been laid with 109 service connections completed to date. Over 2,500 feet of potable water lines have also been completed. In Indian Rocks Beach, 3,943 feet of the 8-inch sewer main have undergone repair and re-lining. The new drainage system is also progressing at a strong pace with the installation of the storm drainage pipe and inlets at 193rd Street complete. As partners in restoring and upgrading Gulf Boulevard, we thank you for your patience and consideration during this project. As work continues, it is our goal to keep you up-to-date on the project’s progress. The next 60 days are planned out to include continued directional drilling for the reclaimed water mains along each side of Gulf Boulevard. When the drilling is complete, a 4-inch pipe will be installed between 1st Street and Walsingham Road. This type of installation for the pipe will reduce impact on property owners, and in most cases, the normal flow of traffic on Gulf Boulevard will be maintained. Reclaimed water service connections will follow, along with the installation of 350 feet of new sanitary sewer pipe near 3rd Street. As soon as installation work is completed, the bike lane and sidewalk construction from 1st Street to Walsingham Road will begin.
