The Town of Indian Shores is in the process of having our beaches raked to help smooth out some of the effects of Hurricane Idalia. Please read on for more information.
Dear Indian Shores Property Owners,
Many, many thanks for your inquiries regarding our beautiful beach and the best ways to try to get it back to some semblance of what it used to look like.
The Town of Indian Shores is in the process of having our beaches raked to help smooth out some of the effects of Hurricane Idalia.
Beach Masonizing has a Florida Department of Environmental Protection permit to perform this work on our beaches and will begin on Thursday, September 7.
We have received several inquiries regarding residents using heavy equipment to put sand back on the beach and this is absolutely prohibited by FDEP. I want to say thanks again here – your concern about doing things the right way is very much appreciated!
If you have sand work that needs to be done east of the Coastal Construction Control Line, the vendor the Town is using for our work on the west side is Beach Masonizing and their phone number is 727-395-0023. Tina advised me they have crews that will go out and shovel sand into wheelbarrows to put it down west of the Coastal Construction Control Line so the beach rake can then smooth it out. You can request a quote before having the work done.
We have requested a second raking for Thursday, September 27, 2023 to pull down any of the excess sand that has been deposited by that date.
We understand this is very niche work and it is important that whomever you hire to do work for you does it in accordance with The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s guidelines.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact the Town at 727-595-4020.
Best regards,
Bonnie Dhonau
