[ARCHIVED] Sand Key Beach Renourishment Information Session and Easement Signing Opportunity

Come to Town Hall at on Thursday, February 20th and Friday, February 21st between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to speak with a representative from the Pinellas County Beach Renourishment Team. Read on for a message from Councilor Mike Howard.

A message from Councilor Michael "Mike" Howard:

I hope you had a chance to watch the Sand Key Project beach renourishment webinar last Thursday.  We understand that some beachfront property owners have concerns about signing the construction maintenance waivers sent by the county.

To clarify, the initial waivers included both beach renourishment and sand dunes.  However, if you prefer renourishment only, you must specifically request a renourishment-only waiver.

To help residents make informed decisions, an informational table will be set up in the lobby of Town Hall on Thursday, Feb. 20, and Friday, Feb. 21.  Representatives from the Pinellas County Beach Renourishment Team will be available to answer questions and assist with the waiver process.  You will also have the opportunity to sign waivers at this event and a notary will be present.

Currently, 75 waivers are still needed from Indian Shores. While 100% participation may not be possible, without additional signed waivers, the county will not proceed with renourishing the beach along Indian Shores.  The deadline for the waivers is Friday, Feb. 28.

We encourage all residents to take advantage of this opportunity to speak with county representatives and ensure the future of our shoreline.

If you would like to check to see if your property (COA/HOA) has signed the easement, including which type and progress, please visit Easements.  Then on right side of webpage, click the drop-down arrows to search an address.  See example of webpage below with arrow to the search option.

***Please Note:  Residents of Redington Shores and Indian Rocks Beach are also welcome to drop off their easement or sign one we have on hand.
